Roof Repairs
Many roofs can be kept going almost indefinitely with on-going maintenance. However there comes a time when you need to consider a replacement. There will usually be an undesirable level of dampness within the roof space, which can lead to problems with timbers and rot. There is also the risk that a severe storm may expose any weaknesses overnight and leave you with a major leak to deal with.
A new roof is a major investment, but will add value to your property and save you money in the longer term. It makes sense to sort out your roof before spending large amounts of money on internal refurbishment. Most mortgage lenders will be sympathetic to releasing funds for this type of work, as you are protecting the value of your investment.
We can usually help you to spread the cost by replacing roof elevations one at a time, though this may cost slightly more and involve additional inconvenience.
We prefer to replicate original details especially on period properties and our approach is to maintain the aesthetic qualities of a roof combined with using high specification materials. Whichever roof covering the client requires, we will be able to advise the best products for your property. We will provide you with a detailed assessment and let you consider all the options before committing to the work.

A built up roof membrane consists of two or more superimposed layers of a bitumen roofing sheet which is bedded and bonded with hot bitumen or fused together by torch application method. This multi-layer system gives more levels of defence against water ingress.
The ideal membrane combines a base of high stiffness and tension, with low stiffness matrix to provide the best combination of characteristics to resist movement and maintain waterproofing integrity.
There are numerous systems available including refurbishment torch on systems and cut to fall insulation systems. Torch on is a means of adhering membranes for built up roofing which involves activating a factory applied layer of felt bitumen using a gas torch.

Rubber Roofing
Benefits of a FIRESTONE EPDM Flat Roof - WHY CHOOSE EPDM RUBBER FOR YOUR FLAT ROOF?
PROVEN OVER MORE THAN 40 YEARS - You can rely on an EPDM Rubber roof because it's been installed successfully in the USA over more than 40 years.
SEAMLESS - COMPLETELY RELIABLE - Most residential flat roofs are straightforward rectangles. This means we can install a single sheet of EPDM rubber to cover your roof. This means you don't have to rely on seams to waterproof your roof. Sheet sizes can be upto 15m x 30m long.
LOW COST BEST MATERIAL AND ECO FRIENDLY TOO - The installed price of your roof will probably be similar to that of a quality felt roof and significantly lower than other "newer" systems. So you can have a flat roof to rely on at a fair price and also be very "green".
NEVER PERISHES AND REMAINS FLEXIBLE - EPDM Rubber is UV and ozone stable so it never perishes. It stays flexible and so can move with the building unlike static installation systems.
SUCCESSFUL IN VERY COLD AND HOT CLIMATES - EPDM rubber is installed successfully in Alaska and in the Middle East. So UK weather is never a problem!
Slate Roofing
We are highly experienced in the refurbishment and maintenance of slate roofs. Having a keen understanding of natural slate and best practice for slate installation we specialise in slate work. For a more traditional look, natural slate can be used on your roof. Reclaimed slate can be use to blend seamlessly on period properties. If the original roof slates are in good condition, but slipping because of nail fatigue, we can salvage all good quality slates, making up numbers with similar slates. This is a good alternative, especially if the property is a listed building. Our skills in slating, combined with leadworking skills, make our roofs aesthetically pleasing and also very resistant to all weather conditions.
Flashings & Chimneys
Chimney stacks are very vulnerable to poor weather conditions and should be checked regularly for any potential problems to keep an eye on their condition and change of condition. Also check the lead flashing and the pointing. Repairs can be carried out as soon as they are required, preventing further dampness penetrating.
Lead Flashing is the point where a flat roof or pitched roof meets the surrounding brickwork. It's main advantage is that it can be shaped and flat formed to the shaped profile of the roof surface. It is extremely durable although it can be lifted and torn in very extreme weather.
Damaged or worn out flashing will allow water penetration. Ongoing leakage wets the roof structure and can leak onto the ceiling areas causing rot, staining and structural deteriation. Stormproof Roofing will identify poor roof flashing and perform repair and replacement before worn out or damaged flashing can start to cause these kind of problems.
Guttering
The purpose of guttering is to efficiently channel rain water from the roof towards a downpipe which in turn carries it down to ground level and then into the drainage system. This system helps to stop the walls of the house becoming saturated and causing problems with dampness.
Traditionally all guttering was cast iron which always shows signs of corrosion and can't be repaired. Stormproof Roofing advise complete replacement of the old damaged guttering with new uPVC guttering. Finlock concrete gutters can be relined using heavy compound aqua seal.
UPVC Facias
uPVC fascias, soffits and barge boards, provide a cost-effective and practical long-term answer to the problem of wood rot and decay and is the ideal replacement for timber.
